Welcome to Center Elementary School 8 Obtuse Hill Road Brookfield, CT 06804
203-775-7650 203-775-7672 fax Mission: The Brookfield Public School District is a dynamic learning community dedicated to providing a superior educational experience which challenges, supports and prepares every student for success in a changing world. The cornerstone on Center School on Obtuse Hill reads: “Brookfield School, Erected A.D. 1938”. Center was then known as the Consolidated School. Even today Center School has the distinction of being the only completely wooden school left in Connecticut. Presently, Center School is Brookfield children’s introduction to school as it houses preschool, kindergarten, and first grade. Each day we open our doors to approximately 420 children. There are a wide range of professionals at CES that play an important role in the lives of our students. The staff consists of a principal, 22 classrooms, art, music, computer, and gym. In addition we have a special education department, a social worker, and a school psychologist. Non-certified staff includes office staff, paraprofessionals and custodians. Center School offers a unique opportunity to experience a place that promotes growth, challenges thinking, and encourages the development of many new skills. In a setting geared to young children, and under the guidance of qualified and sensitive teachers, children deal with the world at their own level and pace. Center School broadens and enriches the child’s experience and provides a strong, realistic, and meaningful base on which future steps in education appropriate to his/her stage of development; therefore, providing the building blocks for a successful life. As you browse our website we invite you to learn more about what we do each day. We are proud of our school community!
The mission of Center School is to provide experiential opportunities, which challenge, support, and encourage successful learning appropriate to the age and uniqueness of each young child.
